Cthulhu 12 Inch Plush Inspired by HP Lovecraft Review

Cthulhu 12 Inch Plush Inspired by HP LovecraftWhen I sat in my bedroom at the age of ten, fearful of the dreaded things inhabiting mountains that dreamers dreams and thinking of the shadows cast by coral the tone of pitch, I never thought I could have the ravager of worlds at my fingertips and him feel so good to carry around. Still, thanks to a few really creative companies and pulp ideas that seem to transcend the pens that inked them so many decades ago, I now have this guy as a backpack buddy, a secret agent Cthulhu, a Superhero Cthulhu, Dracathulhu, Surferthulhu, and a handful of other variations of him and the cast he used to "roll with."

Out of all the original Cthulhus I find myself drawn to the 12 inch beast the most, mainly because he's the largest of the lot and because he fits into a backpack and makes an impact all in the same setting. When the first of these came out he actually attracted more attention than I ever thought possible; I knew that there were a lot of Cthulhu fans sitting around me at the time but I never would have imagined the range of people who knew what, exactly, he was. The pronunciation is always a bit off, sure, but sometimes that makes everything a bit more fun.
Besides, it makes the PERFECT gift when I'm shopping for loved ones with little kids that NEED to be carrying the reaper of dreams.

Really, what else has to be said for something so cute? You have a durable link to the past that reminds us many of us of the roots of all horror, and you also have a link to the future that allows people to examine just what the tenacled one really and truly means. This could mean another set of writers like the newest Lovecraftian authors, and this could open up new ideas like combining Sherlock Holmes with these type of terrors (see Shadows over Baker's Street), something Lumley thought up that looms like a planet looking down (Cold Print), or even a book of influences like those seen on foreign shores (see Junji Ito).

Regardless, you know if you want this and, if you want it, you're halfway there.
