I got this for my infant son, and he absolutely loves it. It's soft and the right size for a baby to hold. The sound it makes is startling at first (so realistic) but my son got used to it quickly. Now when he hears it, he looks around for his buddy the whale. It's a little inconvenient that it can't be thrown in the washer, only surface washed, but not that big of a deal. Also my son tore out the little corners of the whale's smile almost immediately. The main smile line is still in tact, but the 2 little corners may not hold up if it gets any rough play.
