Northern Bobwhite - Audubon Plush BirdBack to Gilmore Happy Lad! If your are a leader in Boy Scouts and go to Woodbadge Training, you are going to be in a patrol and, if you are lucky, you will join the rest of us Bobwhites and forever be part of our patrol! You will soon discover that Bobwhite gear is rare and that the rest of the patrols will have plenty of Fox stickers, Bear hats, etc. But us Bobwhites, well, not much is out there! So, this is a must have! Not only is it the PERFECT mascot for your patrol, its footballish shape makes a perfect distraction during the training sessions (mine took flight often and resulted in many a laugh form the Staff). Product Description:
The Northern Bobwhite is found primarily in the southeastern portion of the United States. These quails prefer dense grass and brush or, occasionally, open woods. Their brown feathers blend in well with dry grasses at ground level. They are usually found in larger groups, or coveys, where birds band together for safety. This species eats a variety of seeds, insects and other bugs. Habitat loss is causing their numbers to greatly decline in some areas. Wild Republic has partnered with Audubon to create this line of genuine plush birds. Each bird's lifelike design and detailing is the result of input from Audubon. In addition, the authentic sound in each bird has been provided by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and represents hours, months and even years of extensive fieldwork conducted by expert recordists. These Audubon Birds in this series vary in size but generally measure approximately 5 to 7 inches long.
