Deluxe Dragon Hand Puppet Review

While shopping for Christmas gifts, I happened by this item and found it to be very amusing. So, I purchased it, thinking it might make a funny visual for mythology, literature, and story-telling classes.

The dragon is soft, well-made, and easy to manipulate as a puppet should be--for small to average sized hands. Big, big hands, however, have to careful about stretching the glove covering / fabric. One hand goes into the orange and gold striped neck glove and the other can go into the tail glove--to give it a wiggle. Intriguing discovery: If you place your hands and finger just right, you can wiggle the golden, forked tongue as well.

The dragon is a good, attention-getting product to inspire children's imagination. Visualizing characters and designing puppet shows for parents / family promotes creativity as well as togetherness.

Coyote 13" Plush Stuffed Animal Toy Review

This is a very soft and well-made plush animal that is sure to please children, animal lovers, and coyote fans. The picture of the product on this page is a good representation. The one I have is very much that color, and he does sit up well as picture. (I think he may have sand or beads in the bottom to weight him down so that he will sit up straight with no tip overs). This coyote has nice, expressive eyes, a soft, leathery-feeling nose, and a bit of a smirk the way his mouth is placed. Thus, he is the perfect Trickster hero of Native American tales.

I purchased this Coyote to be used as a classroom prop for storytelling, mythology, and world tales, and he has been a classroom favorite with the kids, especially since he looks ready to howl! LOL He's fun for creating a display and / or reading center using these items: toy stars scattered on a dark blanket and the following books:

How the Stars Fell into the Sky: A Navajo Legend by Jerrie Oughton
Coyote Places the Stars by Harriet Peck Taylor
The Celestial River: Creation Tales of the Milky Way by Andrea Stenn Stryer
Coyote and the Sky: How the Sun, Moon, and Stars Began by Emmett Garcia and Victoria Pringle
Earth Tales from Around the World by Michael J. Caduto
They Dance in the Sky: Native American Star Myths by Jean G. Monroe and Ray A. Williamson
How Spirit Dog Made the Milky Way by Michael O'Hearn
Coyote in Love With a Star: Tales of the People by Marty Kreipe Montano, Marty Kreipe De Montano, and Tom Coffin
Coyote Sings to the Moon by Thomas King and Johnny Wales
Coyote Tales from the Indian Pueblos by Evelyn Dahl Reed
Two Cool Coyotes by Jillian Lund
The Coyote Bead by Gerald Hausman
Coyote and the Laughing Butterflies by Harriet Peck Taylor
Coyote: A Trickster Tale from the American Southwest by Gerald McDermott
Coyote Stories for Children: Tales from Native America by Susan Strauss and Gary Lund
Coyote Attacks (Animal Attack) by Suzanne J. Murdico
How Coyote Stole the Summer: A Native American Folktale (On My Own Folklore) by Stephen Krensky and Kelly Dupre
Coyote and the Fire Stick: A Pacific Northwest Indian Tale by Barbara Diamond Goldin and Will Hillenbrand

Of course wildlife and zoo fans may enjoy this product as well. Additionally, Coyote makes a fine gift for children who love plush creatures and perhaps for children who may be afraid of the night--if the parents offer funny storytelling and guidance.
